IntelyCare announces $115 million funding round, valuation at $1 billion; platform also adds three execs

IntelyCare, a talent platform providing per diem nurses, announced a $115 million Series C funding round; the round values the Quincy, Massachusetts-headquartered platform at $1.1 billion. IntelyCare also added three new executives to its C-suite and expanded operations in 10 additional states.

Funding round

“We knew that a technology solution could change lives for both sides of the market, and we’re seeing that vision come to fruition as we now have over 30,000 nursing professionals working with IntelyCare at over 1,600 facilities across the country,” said IntelyCare co-founder and CEO David Coppins.

IntelyCare was founded in 2016.

Janus Henderson Investors led the Series C round. Also participating were new and existing investors, including Longitude Capital, Leeds Illuminate, Endeavour Vision, Revelation Partners and Kaiser Permanente Ventures.

“As care settings become increasingly distributed, it is clear that healthcare organizations will rely on technology to flexibly meet their staffing needs,” said Endeavour Vision Managing Partner Bernard Vogel.

IntelyCare reported that since its Series B funding round in February 2020, the number of nursing professionals on its platform more than doubled in 2021.

New executives

IntelyCare had previously announced the hires of three new C-level executives: Chris Sands as CFO, Sheri Zee as chief people officer and Michael Berdik as chief legal officer.

Sands most recently was CFO of MineralTree, a provider of accounts payable automation software.

Zee has more than 20 years of experience and most recently was senior VP, culture and talent, for Skillsoft Corp. Zee will lead IntelyCare’s strategy to attract, retain and develop talent.

Berdik was previously general counsel at Salsify, CiBO Technologies and EnerNOC.

IntelyCare has also expanded operations in 10 additional states including Arizona, California, Colorado, Texas and Utah. It also hired nearly 300 new employees in the US and Albania and relocated its headquarters to a 54,000 square-foot office space in Quincy, Massachusetts.
