Westinghouse acquires energy staffing provider

BHI Energy, a provider of project management and staffing services to the nuclear, fossil, wind and hydroelectric energy markets, is being acquired by Westinghouse Electric Co.

BHI is based in Weymouth, Massachusetts, and has a workforce of more than 8,500 project management and technical, professional and craft employees during peak seasonal activity at more than 150 project locations.

Private equity firm AE Industrial Partners LP, the seller, and Westinghouse announced the deal in April. Terms of the transaction were not announced.

“Creating customer value and supporting the complete lifecycle of nuclear operations is a key part of our strategy,” said Patrick Fragman, Westinghouse president and CEO. “Combining these complementary organizations will further strengthen our ability to serve the nuclear operating fleet through an expanded presence in our core business while setting a new standard in outage and maintenance efficiencies.”

AE Industrial Partners noted that BHI has grown both organically and through acquisitions. Recent acquisition included DBE Utility Services, Coastal Electric Construction, TechCom International, Plaska Transmission Line Construction and D&D Power.

AE Industrial Partners is a private equity firm specializing in aerospace; defense and government services; space; power and utility services; and specialty industrial markets.
