Yoh acquires Silicon Valley firm ERG

April 04, 2017

Yoh acquired Embedded Resource Group Inc., a Silicon Valley-based specialty IT engineering recruitment firm, effective March 31. The acquisition expands Yoh’s IT staffing practice area.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Campbell, Calif.-based ERG provides staffing services and engineering consulting throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and Northern California, targeting specialized hardware and software engineers at technology companies. Its founder and president, Tim Penick, worked at Yoh’s Santa Clara, Calif., office in the late 1990s before leaving in 2004 to launch ERG.

“I am pleased and excited to be back in the Yoh family of companies,” Penick said. “I have fond memories of my tenure with Yoh and see this as a great opportunity for ERG’s staff to continue to deliver the best in engineering talent and leverage Yoh’s vast resources. Our focus is to continue to expand this IT recruiting practice area and provide more service to our clients and more opportunities to our consultants and our employees. The future is very bright for ERG and Yoh.”

The Embedded Resource Group brand will remain for now; ERG executives and all employees will join the Yoh group.

“Technology companies large and small continue to struggle to find highly skilled R&D, development and product engineering professionals to meet their critical talent needs in today’s fast-moving business landscape,” said Emmett McGrath, executive VP of Yoh. “This acquisition is a reinforcement of our commitment to providing focused recruiting solutions to our clients. ERG is a strong addition to our national IT recruiting practice and will allow us to deliver top hardware and software engineers to more of our customers.”

Yoh is a business unit of Day & Zimmerman and ranks No. 26 on Staffing Industry Analysts’ list of largest staffing firms in the US.
