Working Fields acquires staffing firm from Massachusetts nonprofit

January 09, 2023

Working Fields, a staffing agency focused on helping those recovering from substance abuse and incarceration, acquired Greenfield, Massachusetts-based temporary staffing firm Harmon Personnel Services from nonprofit organization Community Action Pioneer Valley.

The acquisition will go into full effect this month.

Founded in 1984, Harmon Personnel Services’ staffing coordinator, Tess Champoux, will retain her role as an account manager for Working Fields and will continue to operate out of the same location.

Working Fields, founded in 2017 and based in Burlington, Vermont, partners with companies to provide long-term employment opportunities predominantly for individuals who face barriers to employment, such as housing, justice involvement, transportation or recovery from substance use. The company currently operates in seven Vermont counties and New Hampshire’s Manchester and Seacoast regions. The acquisition will expand Working Fields’ presence to a fifth office in Greenfield.

“Our team at Working Fields is excited to bring our supportive employment model to the Pioneer Valley,” Working Fields CEO and founder Mickey Wiles said. “Our unique model has proven to be tremendously effective in several regions, and we look forward to being a good community partner in Greenfield.”
