Beginning in 2020, workers in Washington state will be eligible for paid family and medical leave through a new state program funded by employee and employer contributions, Northwest Public Radio reported. Gov. Jay Inslee signed the bill into law Wednesday. Under the program, small businesses can obtain grants to help defray the cost of hiring a temporary employee to replace a worker who is on leave.
