Walmart Inc. plans to hire nearly 40,000 US associates in several seasonal and full-time roles for the year-end holiday season, according to a post by Walmart Senior VP of Field People Maren Waggoner.

In 2021, Walmart added 150,000 jobs for the holiday season.

The associates will include seasonal store associates who will provide in-store and pick-up and delivery services, full-time, permanent truck drivers, and customer care associates, according to the company.

Waggoner wrote the company will offer additional hours to current associates and present the opportunity to temporary workers afterward.

Walmart’s average US wage is more than $17 an hour, with many associates earning more based on role and market.

Waggoner also wrote the company has recently increased wages for pharmacy technicians and truck drivers.

Additionally, Walmart provides medical coverage; a PTO policy that includes paid sick leave; and a 401(k) match, including an associate stock purchase plan match for qualifying associates.
