Venture capital firm acquires Linga Franca Search

October 03, 2022

Venture capital firm QED Investors acquired Lingua Franca Search, a boutique provider of retained and professional search focused on fintech and financial services roles.

QED founded and previously held a majority stake in Lingua Franco Search; it increased its ownership with the deal announced today.

“Over the past five years, [Linga Franca Search] has placed scores of C-Suite executives and critical hires at some of the world’s best-known financial services brands,” said Nigel Morris, co-founder and managing partner at QED Investors. “I couldn’t be more excited to bring [it] more into the fold and provide our portfolio companies an internal resource to hire the talent they need to succeed.”

Morris also co-founded Capital One in 1994 and previously served as president and COO at that firm.

Linga Franca, also known as LF Search, was formed in 2017 and has placed more than 100 executive, senior and professional hires, according to the company. It’s based in McLean, Virginia, and led by CEO Thomas King.

Linga Franca serves both QED portfolio companies as well as other firms not in the QED orbit.
