Union says 250 truck drivers in Southern California are cites NLRB ruling

June 14, 2022

The Teamsters union announced today that more than 250 XPO Logistics/STG port truck drivers in Southern California are company employees, not independent contractors. The union said a ruling was delivered on Monday by the National Labor Relations Board.

Monday’s decision marks the first time a union election has been ordered for port truck drivers who were classified as independent contractors, according to the union. The bargaining unit in this case is made up of both truck owners and non-truck owners at two Southern California facilities.

“This victory is another reminder that we can’t give up the fight,” said Sean O’Brien, Teamsters general president.
