Uber’s self-driving car program in San Francisco draws regulatory fire (Automotive News)

Uber Technologies Inc. began operating self-driving cars in San Francisco, but the state’s Department of Motor Vehicles says the company must stop until it works to comply with state regulations, Automotive News reported. Uber, a human cloud firm, argues it doesn’t need state licensing for San Francisco because it believes the rule only applies to vehicles that don’t need a human monitor behind the wheel — Uber’s vehicles still require such a monitor.
