Work services platform Uber Technologies Inc. (NYSE: UBER) today said it had reached an agreement with Canada’s largest services sector union to support the ride-hail and food delivery company’s proposal of a benefits fund without altering gig workers’ status as independent contractors, Reuters reported. Uber Canada in August called for a flexible benefits fund for independent contractors who work through online apps, including work services platforms such as Uber.
