US to issue more temporary worker H-2B visas (ABC News)

June 22, 2017

The US Homeland Security Department will offer extra visas for temporary, seasonal workers, ABC News reported. The H-2B visas are used for temporary, nonagriculture workers at a variety of businesses, including resorts. The government offers 66,000 such visas a year, and the extra visas will be available to companies that show they would be significantly harmed if they are not able to hire foreign workers temporarily. The number of extra visas to be offered hasn’t been decided but that number should be set soon, and the department expects to start issuing visas as soon as late July.
