US firm acquires Brazilian provider of job boards, career services for university students

August 07, 2018

Contratanet, a provider of job boards and career services aimed at university students in Brazil, was acquired by Symplicity Corp., an Arlington, Va.-based provider of career services to university students in more than 30 countries.

Terms of the deal were not announced. Contratanet has a network of more than 1,000 universities in Brazil, 150,000 employers and more than 4 million candidates. Based in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, the company provides a portal that connects educational institutions, companies and candidates with jobs and internships.

Symplicity offers a similar service with online web portals that enable users to apply for jobs and set up interviews. It’s used by more than 1,300 universities within the 30 countries in which it operates. Symplicity has already partnered with a Brazilian firm Grupo A Educação; the new acquisition is aimed at strengthening its operations in the country.

“We believe that the current career vision must be global, and that Brazilian educational institutions will have a stronger partner with even more comprehensive solutions and the necessary expertise to deliver the best employability services to their students and alumni,” said Rodrigo Harlley, CEO and founder of Contratanet.

Symplicity was founded in 1997, and is owned BY H.I.G. Capital, a private equity firm that was the former owner of staffing firm Insight Global, which it sold in 2010.
