U.S. Economic Index Falls

July 01, 2011

The Economic Cycle Research Institute’s weekly leading index of the U.S. economy fell to a level of 126.4 in the week ended June 24, the lowest reading since December 2010.

The index’s growth rate of 2.0 percent is down 90 basis points from 2.9 percent the prior period and also the lowest reading since December.

The growth rate is derived from a calculation that includes a four-week moving average of the weekly leading index level that is compared against the previous year’s average.
