Travel nurse-focused talent platform Nomad Health announces $63 million funding round

Nomad Health, an online talent platform that matches travel nurses with healthcare facilities, announced $63 million in equity and debt financing. This brings total funding raised at the New York-based firm to more than $100 million. It also named a chief client officer and a VP of product.

“While there are so many new avenues of growth that this funding will help us explore, we are doubling down on our investments in the platform to support what we expect will be even more rapid growth as we take greater share and as the demand for healthcare staffing continues to accelerate,” said CEO and co-founder Alexi Gharib Nazem, MD.

The company said the funding round comes amid growth during the Covid-19 pandemic. Revenue at Nomad Health this year to date has already more than doubled full-year 2020 revenue. It also reported the number of transactions in its marketplace has grown seven-fold since the start of the pandemic in February 2020.

Nomad Health also increase its internal corporate team to more than 170 employees.

In addition, the company announced the appointment of Kim Howard as chief client officer and Jeff Simon as VP of product.

Howard most recently served at AMN Healthcare Services Inc. as senior VP of strategic client sales. Simon comes from Indeed, where he served as a head of product. Simon was the core product architect for moving Indeed’s résumé search business to a subscription-based model and growing the business buy $230 million in four years, according to Nomad.

In addition, Nomad Health named Thomas Bremner to its board. Bremner is a growth equity partner from Adams Street Partners, which led the funding round announced today. All existing investors also participated in the funding round; they include Icon Ventures, Polaris Partners, RRE Ventures, .406 Ventures, First Round Capita and Silicon Valley Bank.

Nomad Health was founded in 2015.
