Toptal acquires business talent platform Skillbridge

April 06, 2016

Toptal, an online staffing platform for software engineers and designers, acquired Skillbridge, an online platform for business freelancers.

Skillbridge, which is headquartered in New York and London, will become Toptal Business, a new segment of Toptal. Skillbridge’s co-founders, CEO Raj Jeyakumar and CTO Saalim Chowdhury, will join Toptal as executives.

“Companies are increasingly looking for expertise within the rapidly-growing on-demand business talent segment, and Skillbridge gives us the experience and knowledge to win in the space alongside our technology,” said Toptal co-founder and CEO Taso Du Val.

“After evaluating the landscape, they were clearly the most disruptive player — not only attracting and retaining the best talent from the likes of McKinsey, Wharton and Google — but also consistently delivering high success rates and repeat usage,” Du Val said. “Skillbridge’s expertise merged with Toptal’s extreme technological edge will allow us to continue our growth and dominance in the talent marketplace sector.”

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Toptal ranked No. 19 on Staffing Industry Analysts’ list of largest human cloud companies by spend. Toptal generated $80 million last year and is on pace to surpass $125 million this year. The company counts nearly 300 employees across more than 25 countries, all working remotely.
