Top digital marketing role posts $301,000 salary at high end

The highest-paid digital marketing executive roles include chief digital officer, chief marketing technologists and chief marketing officer, according to a report by Mondo, a provider of technology and marketing staffing. Chief digital marketing officers had the highest salary with $301,000 at the high end and $156,000 at the low end.

Other top-paid digital marketing positions:

  • Chief marketing technologist: $144,000 to $248,000
  • Chief marketing officer: $142,000 to $230,000
  • VP of ecommerce: $120,000 to $205,000
  • VP of marketing communications: $128,000 to $205,000

“The intense demand for highly-skilled digital marketing professionals is resulting in significant salaries for those professionals with expertise in the areas of strategy, data, content and social media, with executive positions like chief digital officer commanding significant salaries,” said Laura McGarrity, VP of digital marketing strategy, Mondo.

“Another significant trend we’re seeing this year is the increase in the number of digital marketing freelancers,” McGarrity said. “We predict the digital marketing workforce mix in the next three to five years will become a 50/50 mix of freelance to permanent professionals.”

This salary data is based on Mondo placements for digital marketing professionals over the past year, in New York City, San Francisco, Washington DC, Philadelphia, Denver, Boston, Chicago, Dallas and Ft. Lauderdale.
