Temp staffing hours bounce back in week ended Jan. 14

January 24, 2023

Temporary staffing hours worked were down 3.0% year over year in the week ended Jan. 14, but they were up 11.3% from the previous week, according to the SIA | Bullhorn Staffing Indicator released today.

Looking at this week’s report, commercial staffing hours and professional staffing hours each fell 3.0%. However, both categories were up 11.3% from the previous week.

“This modest year-over-year decline in staffing hours worked is roughly in line with the decline in temporary help employment measured for December as reported in the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ January US Jobs Report (published on Jan. 6) and suggests some degree of pullback in the overall volume of the US staffing industry,” according to the report.
