Here’s more:

Drum

On-demand platform Drum announced a seed funding round of nearly $11 million. The Atlanta-based company provides clients access to gig contractors, which it refers to as “drummers,” who will promote clients’ products and services. Drummers will earn money by sending customers to the clients, signing up clients for Drum and building up their own networks of other drummers.

“Drum unlocks a three-sided marketplace connecting any business to the customers they want through an on-demand network of salespeople,” said Harshul Sanghi, managing partner at American Express Ventures, an investor in the seed funding round.

Drum intends to focus first on the Atlanta and New York markets.

Investors taking part in the seed funding round in addition to American Express Ventures include Propel Venture Partners, Felicis Ventures, BlueRun Ventures, GroTech Ventures, Wildcat Venture Partners, BoxGroup and SV Angel.

Vimeo

Video platform Vimeo, a competitor to YouTube, launched a “for hire” job board to connect clients to freelance video professionals such as editors, animators and others. Vimeo said it will take no commission or fee from the connections. The platform offers both free and paid subscriptions for video hosting.

Clients can post projects online and wait for freelance video professionals to approach them or look through a list of video freelancers and select the person they would like.

Payment will take place off the platform, and any freelancer that is a paying member of Vimeo can list themselves as available to be hired.

Recruit Co. Ltd.

Recruit Co. Ltd., which ranks as one of the world’s largest staffing firms, made another investment in a firm outside the staffing industry. The firm, Plum, is an e-commerce platform for the sale of previously owned fashion and luxury products in China.

Private equity firm Siguler Guff led the $20 million series B funding round with Recruit, according to an announcement by Siguler Guff.
