WorkGenius, an AI-based talent platform, acquired JBC, a New York-based staffing provider that caters to the retail, entertainment, media, creative services and fashion industries.
The combined company will have close to $100 million in revenue and more than 250 employees.
“We see this partnership as a major benefit to our clients, our freelancers and to both our teams,” said Marlon Rosenzweig, CEO of WorkGenius.
JBC primarily operates in the US, UK, Spain, France, Canada and Hong Kong. It was founded in 2006 by Bryan Zaslow, who will continue to lead the organization.
The acquiror, WorkGenius, connects a pool of freelancers to clients through its platform and enables clients to assign work and make payments. The freelancers remain anonymous. The company was founded in 2011 in Hamburg, Germany, by Rosenzweig and Daniel Barke. It’s now headquartered in New York City. Barke is chief revenue officer, and Keith Geller is chief operations officer.
In this deal, Chad Leat, former vice chair of CitiGroup, is joining existing equity investors, including John Jahr and Axel Sven Springer.
