Survey: Top 10 Toughest Jobs to Fill

Jobs for technicians ranked as the world’s most difficult positions for employers to fill, according to a survey of almost 40,000 employers in 39 countries and territories by ManpowerGroup Inc. (NYSE: MAN).

Here’s the list:

1. Technicians
2. Sales Representatives
3. Skilled Trades Workers
4. Engineers
5. Laborers
6. Management/Executives
7. Accounting and Finance Staff
8. Information Technology Staff
9. Production Operators
10. Secretaries, Personal Assistants, Administrative Assistants and Office Support Staff

According to ManpowerGroup, 90 percent of employers site factors such as lack of necessary skills and experience, insufficient qualifications, or a lack of soft skills as the reasons behind the challenge in filling the roles. These factors point to an oversupply of available workers and an undersupply of qualified workers, according to the company.

The survey had included 1,300 U.S. employers, and the toughest jobs to fill in the United States in 2011 included:

1. Skilled Trades
2. Sales Representatives
3. Engineers
4. Drivers
5. Accounting and Finance Staff
6. Information Technology Staff
7. Management/Executives
8. Teachers
9. Secretaries/Administrative Assistants
10. Machinists/Machine Operators

Fifty-two percent of U.S. employers reported experiencing difficulty filling jobs due to lack of available talent, according to the survey.
