View All NewsStaffing hours worked slip 4.2% week over week but remain up over year
While hours worked in the US staffing industry fell 4.2% on a week-over-week basis in the week ended June 11, they were still up 4% on a year-over-year basis, according to the latest SIA | Bullhorn Staffing Indicator. The week-over-week decline suggests demand was negatively impacted by the typical softening that follows the Memorial Day holiday.
The SIA | Bullhorn Staffing Indicator measures hours worked. It comprises two sets of analyses: a year-over-year comparison showing how the most recent week compared to the same week 12 months previously and an indexed value that has been benchmarked against data from the week ended Jan. 19, 2019.
Week ending June 11, 2022 | Indexed value | Year over year | Week over week |
US staffing | 97 | +4% | -4.2% |
Commercial staffing | 82 | 0% | -4.2% |
Professional staffing | 131 | +12% | -4.1% |
In the week ended June 11, the index value was 97, following readings of 101 and 104 in each of the prior two weeks as revised.
