April 15, 2020

Several staffing firms announced partnerships with healthcare providers and others, including an airline, amid the fight against Covid-19. Firms making announcements include Jackson Healthcare, General Healthcare Resources, Vaco and Cross Country Healthcare Inc. (NASDAQ: CCRN).

Jackson Healthcare. Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp announced a partnership with Jackson Healthcare and is working with its subsidiary Healthcare Workforce Logistics to bring approximately 570 additional healthcare professionals into Georgia’s key health systems.

Much of Georgia’s early focus has been on staffing needs at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, Georgia, one of the state’s hardest-hit healthcare systems. Sixty-five additional healthcare professionals have been added at the hospital’s main campus while 80 more are expected early next week. Another 230 healthcare professionals are expected to be brought into Phoebe’s North campus. The state is also setting up four temporary medical units across Georgia.

General Healthcare Resources. General Healthcare Resources, a healthcare staffing firm based in Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania, announced it was named a healthcare staffing partner for the Covid-19 surge facility at the Liacouras Center in Philadelphia. It will be responsible for all clinical support staff at the new field hospital.

The Liacouras surge facility will be used to provide around-the-clock care to recovering Covid-19 patients ages 18 and over.

Vaco. Vaco, a staffing firm based in Brentwood, Tennessee, announced it was staffing Covid-19 response call centers in Birmingham, Alabama, and Memphis, Tennessee. The remote, outbound call centers target the cities’ underserved and unemployed populations suffering through the crisis and have employed more than 100 displaced workers.

Vaco is exploring similar partnerships with Nashville and other cities.

Cross Country Healthcare Inc. Healthcare staffing firm Cross Country Healthcare Inc. said it’s collaborating with JetBlue airlines to provide free flights to healthcare providers traveling to New York to fight Covid-19. Healthcare professionals working through Cross Country will get information on flights once they receive an active assignment.
