Staffing M&A announcements: Red Global, Hire Technologies, The Muse, DeWinter Group

October 14, 2022

Staffing industry acquisitions were recently announced by Red Global Ltd., Hire Technologies (TSXV.HIRE.V), The Muse and DeWinter Group.

Red Global Ltd.

Private equity firm AEA Investors closed its acquisition of Red Global Ltd., an SAP and tech recruitment firm headquartered in London.

Red Global has a private network of more than 300,000 tech candidates and works with more than 29,000 clients globally.

"We are excited to collaborate with AEA Investors in the next expansive chapter of Red’s story,” Red Global CEO Ross Eades said. “This new partnership underpins both our acquisitive and organic growth plans as we look to expand into even more regions and technologies.”

AEA is based in New York with offices around the globe.

“Red has built a unique and compelling position in the industry, and we share the team’s vision of delivering superior value by providing comprehensive staffing solutions to their global clients,” said Dan Schorr, a partner at AEA.

Hire Technologies

Hire Technologies (TSXV.HIRE.V), a Toronto-based staffing organization, divested its Vancouver-based Taylor Ryan Inc. business back to the sellers from the original transaction. The deal closed Oct. 4 and extinguishes C$9.7 million in capital commitment in 2023.

The deal was for 100% of shares in Taylor Ryan.

Hire Technologies will record a gain on the sale in the fourth quarter.

In addition, Hire Technologies announced that Charlie Cooper succeeded Dan Teguh as CFO. Cooper has years of experience in international business and guiding professional services companies.

The Muse

The Muse, a New York-based online job search and career development platform, acquired Fairygodboss, an online career platform where women can find jobs, advice and support.

Fairygodboss, founded in 2015 and based in Manhattan, New York, will retain its brand name.

“The Muse is extremely excited to strengthen our commitment to the online career community through our acquisition of Fairygodboss,” The Muse founder and CEO Kathryn Minshew said. “Fairygodboss is a pioneer in the category, and we are thrilled to welcome them to The Muse family as we endeavor together to become the go-to source for candidates to find the jobs, advice and support that will help them achieve their career goals.”

The Muse, founded in 2011, is backed by New York City-based private equity firm MBM Capital and used by 75 million people annually.

DeWinter Group

DeWinter Group, a Silicon Valley-based finance/accounting and technology staffing firm, acquired Syrinx Consulting, a greater Boston-based high-end software development and technology staffing solutions provider.

According to DeWinter, the acquisition of Syrinx will add significant scale to its fast-growing technology line of business — Maris Consulting Group — and expand the skill sets it offers to its clients.

“Syrinx has a great reputation and brings tremendous value to our platform,” DeWinter CEO Shane Oberg said.

Syrinx, founded in 1998, sources candidates with specialized skill sets in programming languages including .NET, Python, Java and SQL.

DeWinter is backed by New Heritage Capital, a Boston-based private equity firm focused on founder-led businesses. The DeWinter founder-owners partnered with Heritage in 2020 to accelerate growth through organic and M&A initiatives.
