Some Uber drivers, including named plaintiff, object to settlement

May 18, 2016

Around a dozen Uber drivers and lawyers, including a named plaintiff, filed objections to the proposed $100 million settlement in the Uber independent contractor class action lawsuit saying it’s not enough, the Los Angeles Times reports. However, it’s unclear whether the objections will influence the court. “If somebody had truly done their homework and was putting forward a damage model that shows what drivers are being shorted, that may get the judge’s attention,” Todd Scherwin, a labor attorney not involved in the case, told the Times. “Anything less than that is not going to be given much weight.”
