Short-form video, AI tools among fastest increase in searches: Fiverr

April 18, 2023

Short-form video content, generative AI tools and e-commerce operators looking to strategically elevate their business are three trends fueling searches on Fiverr International Ltd.’s (NYSE: FVRR) talent platform, according to its Spring 2023 Business Trends Index, released today. Among the millions of searches on the marketplace, the index lists the services that saw the largest percentage increase in searches over the last six months, revealing the services business leaders are looking for to scale their companies and reach new customers.

In the US, searches for claymation recorded the largest increase, up 18,654%, followed by AI and brand identity design, up by 1,121% and 968%, respectively.

Trending global searches over the past six months include:

AI technology. Many companies are exploring ways to integrate AI into their business platforms and working with freelance developers to build custom solutions. Since the beginning of the year, earnings for freelancers offering technical AI services — such as AI app development — were responsible for the majority of revenue for AI-related services overall.

Search term growth:

  • AI art, up 6,967%
  • AI, up 1,088%
  • Artificial intelligence, up 56%

Short-form video content. In addition to AI, searches for YouTube Shorts editors and creators saw explosive growth, suggesting the platform might be on track to compete with the likes of TikTok and Instagram Reels.

Search term growth:

  • YouTube Shorts video, up 64,624%
  • Instagram Reel editor, up 4,760%
  • TikTok manager, up 1,445%

Shopping strategy. And searches for freelancers with expertise as strategists on Etsy and Shopify saw a major uptick, as business owners look for guidance on how to draw in new and retain existing customers in a challenging market.

Search term growth:

  • Etsy sales, up 5,348%
  • Etsy digital planner, up 2,366%
  • Shopify manager, up 1,065%

“The data we uncovered underscores their willingness to embrace nascent platforms, such as generative AI tools, and explore new strategies to keep their organizations competitive,” said Hila Klein, COO of Fiverr. “It also reveals the key role freelancers play in providing business leaders with the skills and external expertise they need to quickly integrate these platforms and re-strategize, helping organizations of all sizes grow and evolve.”
