Restrictions on outsourcing take effect in Peru

August 22, 2022

Peru has restricted the outsourcing of labor with a new law that is now coming into effect. The measure puts at risk more than 70,000 jobs at small companies and more than 40,000 jobs at large companies, according to staffingamericalatina.

The law prohibits outsourcing companies from providing outsourced employees to perform work related to a client company’s “core business,” according to an analysis by WTW. In addition, client companies may only use outsourced workers for “specialized activities” that require a specified level of technical knowledge unrelated to the client company’s core business.

More on the law is available in Staffing Industry Analysts’ “Latin America Legal Update Q2 2022” report.

Staffing is sometimes referred to as “outsourcing” in Latin America.
