Report raises concerns about age targeting of employment ads on Facebook (The New York Times)

A collaborative report by ProPublica and The New York Times found tech giants — including Facebook, Amazon and Verizon — ran job recruitment ads for companies targeted to certain age demographics, often preventing older workers from seeing them in their feed. Facebook took issue with the claims, saying “simply showing certain job ads to different age groups on services like Facebook or Google may not in itself be discriminatory — just as it can be OK to run employment ads in magazines and on TV shows targeted at younger or older people.”
