Recruit revenue up 12.4% in fiscal Q2; HR technology business with Indeed and Glassdoor again leads growth

Recruit Holdings Co. Ltd., which ranks as one of the world’s largest staffing firms, reported revenue rose 12.4% on a constant currency basis in its fiscal second quarter ended Sept. 30.

Total revenue was ¥878.4 billion (US$ 6.1 billion).

Recruit’s HR technology segment led growth with a year over year increase of 40.1% on a reported basis. The segment includes Indeed and Glassdoor. On a US-dollar basis, revenue was up 11.6%. Recruit reported demand remained strong for Indeed’s and Glassdoor’s hiring products and services. US revenue from the HR Tech segment was up by 9.2% on a US-dollar basis. Revenue outside of the US rose 18.9%, primarily led by Europe with additional growth in Canada and Japan.

Indeed monthly unique visitors rose to more than 300 million in September from 250 million in March 2022.

Recruit’s staffing business recorded an increase in revenue of 19.3% with global staffing operations in Europe, the US and Australia seeing a year-over-year increase in revenue of 23.3% or 7.8% in constant currency, to ¥234 billion (US$1.6 billion). Recruit’s Japanese staffing business saw a 14.0% increase in revenue to ¥166 billion (US$1.1 billion).

Second-quarter revenue in Recruit’s matching and solutions segment, which includes the company’s nonstaffing publishing operations, rose 13.9%.

Guidance

Recruit did not revise guidance and continues to forecast revenue growth of 14.9% for its full fiscal year.

Share price and market cap

Shares in Recruit closed at ¥4,900 (US$35.28) today in Tokyo, or up 0.97%; they were 32.15% above their 52-week low, according to FT.com. Recruit has a market cap of ¥8.23 trillion (US$59.26 billion).
