RSR Partners acquires NYC asset management recruitment firm

January 12, 2017

RSR Partners, a Greenwich, Conn.-based executive search and leadership consulting firm, acquired Higdon Partners, an asset management recruiting and advisory firm headquartered in New York City.

The transaction closed in late December; terms were not disclosed.

Higdon Partners will fold into RSR Partners, which now has approximately 75 employees. Hank Higdon, founder and chairman of Higdon Partners, is now vice chairman of RSR Partners. Seven employees also joined RSR Partners, including five executives; four are managing directors, RSR Partners’ version of partner, and one is a principal.

“With proxy access and the trend toward greater shareholder-director engagement, active institutional asset managers are increasingly shaping board composition and decision making,” said RSR Partners CEO Brett Stephens. “Combining our board advisory capabilities with Higdon Partners’ renowned asset management expertise uniquely positions our firm at the increasingly important nexus of institutional shareholders and corporate boardrooms to provide unparalleled strategic counsel and leadership advice.”

Hank Higdon founded Higdon Partners in 1986. The firm recruits investment professionals, senior executives and their teams, trustees, and advisory board members for endowments and foundations, plan sponsors, family offices and wealth management firms, hedge funds, private equity firms, mutual funds, global asset managers and sovereign wealth funds.

RSR Partners provides board advisory, board recruiting, and executive search for global business. It operates seven offices: Chicago, Cleveland, Dallas, Greenwich, Los Angeles, New York and Tokyo.
