July 16, 2018

Gun.io, an online staffing platform that matches businesses with freelance software professionals, agreed to acquire Nashville-based product development firm Centresource, the company announced today.

Centresource, founded in 2003, develops web and mobile applications across an array of industries, including music, entertainment and the nonprofit sector. Its custom-built software is used by more 200 client companies and more than 10,000 users.

The deal closed May 1, and terms were not announced.

“The software development industry is moving towards a remote, just-in-time model,” said Gun.io Founder and CEO Teja Yenamandra. “Gun.io’s platform provides clients with access to a flexible bench of over 20,000 freelance software developers, allowing clients to pick precisely the right mix of talent they need at any given time.”

Companies retaining Gun.io’s freelance teams include Cisco and NBCUniversal. The company has offices in Nashville and New York City.

Combined, Gun.io and Centresource serve more than 1,000 direct customers and support more than 25,000 freelancers.
