Nurse Licensure Compact operational today in Kansas and Louisiana; can speed up placements: American Traveler

July 01, 2019

Today, the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact became operational in Kansas and Louisiana. The number of states participating in the compact now number 31.The compact allows registered nurses, licensed practical nurses and vocational nurses to hold one multistate license that allows them to practice in their home state and other compact states.

“Kansas and Louisiana are two very welcome additions to the [enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact],” said Mary Kay Hull, VP, recruitment, American Traveler. “Cities like New Orleans and Wichita are continually in need of high-quality RN staff, and we love being able to send travelers to exciting locations like these — now it’s even easier, because they’re in compact states.”

A compact nursing license lets travel nurses practice in all member states without having to go through the process of getting a license to practice in each individual state, according to American Traveler. This can speed up the placement and onboarding time for travelers, in some cases by months.

The move was also announced in a post by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing Inc.
