New law will bind New Jersey staffing firms when they place out of state (The National Law Review)

July 06, 2023

New Jersey staffing firms must comply with the state’s new temp law even when assigning contingent workers outside of New Jersey, according to a report by law firm Ogletree Deakins in The National Law Review. The requirement was mentioned in recent guidance from the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development. However, it did not address whether a third-party client outside of New Jersey must comply. The new law places several burdens on staffing firms such as equal pay for temps and directly employed workers, according to an article in Staffing Industry Review magazine.
