New York County has highest average weekly wage

New York County NY posted the highest average weekly wage of U.S. counties at $2,821 in the first quarter of 2007, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported last week. It was followed by Fairfield County CT at $1,979 and Suffolk County MA at $1,659.
The county with the lowest average weekly wage was Cameron County TX at $502. The next lowest average weekly wages were in Hidalgo County TX ($516) and Horry County SC ($536).
The U.S. county with the largest year-over-year gain in employment in the first quarter was Orleans Parish LA, the home of New Orleans, which saw job growth of 15.0%.
