New York AG sends ‘cease and desist’ letter alleging use of unlicensed temporary staffing firm amid hospital strike (Healthcare Dive)

October 15, 2021

The temporary staffing firm providing replacement staff during a strike at Mercy Hospital in Buffalo, New York, may be operating without proper state licensing, according to a cease-and-desist letter sent this week from New York Attorney General Letitia James’ office, Healthcare Dive reported. The letter asks the agency, Huffmaster, to stop providing services to Mercy Hospital, either as an employment agency or as a “watch, guard, or patrol agency” without a license. However, the hospital stated the replacement nurses and other temporary staff are “properly credentialed to work in New York State.”
