Multiverse acquires recruiting platform provider Searchlight

April 10, 2024

Multiverse, a London-based company focused on workplace training and recruitment, announced it acquired Searchlight, a San Francisco-based company that offers an applicant screening and selection platform. Searchlight says its platform automates applicant screening using an AI filter, psychometric assessments and automation of reference checks.

“By joining forces, we can apply Searchlight’s tech and expertise at scale with some of the world’s largest companies, effectively becoming the workforce development platform of the future,” Kerry Wang, co-founder and CEO of Searchlight, said in a press release.

Wang founded Searchlight in 2018 with her sister, Anna Wang. Both are graduates of Stanford University.

“After meeting Anna and Kerry and digging into the Searchlight product, I was really excited at how they were using AI to spot patterns and identify skilling solutions both within and outside of the workforce,” Multiverse founder and CEO Euan Blair said in a press release.

As part of the acquisition, the Searchlight team joined Multiverse to lead the integration of its talent intelligence technology into Multiverse’s platform and lead its AI initiatives. Kerry Wang is taking on the role of director of product, while founder and CTO Anna Wang will become head of AI.

Terms of the transaction were not announced. Multiverse confirmed to SIA that the teams are working at Multiverse now.

Multiverse said it partners with more than 1,000 organizations to provide training in several areas such as data analytics and software engineering.

In June 2022, Multiverse secured a $220 million Series D funding round — co-led by StepStone Group, Lightspeed Venture Partners and General Catalyst — achieving a post-money valuation of $1.7 billion and becoming the UK’s first EdTech unicorn.
