Management information systems major to get highest starting salaries

Management information systems majors are projected to post the highest starting salary, at $56,846, among bachelor’s degree business graduates of the class of 2016, according to salary survey data released by the National Association of Colleges and Employers. This is up from last year, when NACE reported projected salaries for management information systems majors averaged $55,843.

Among business grad salaries expected to surpass the $50,000 mark this year, all projected salaries are up from last year, except for sales.

The average projected salaries for the top-paid business majors at the bachelor’s level include:

  1. Management information systems: $56,846
  2. Logistics/supply chain: $55,246
  3. Actuarial science: $54,833
  4. Economics: $53,673
  5. Finance: $53,499
  6. Accounting: $52,405
  7. Business administration/management: $51,831
  8. Sales: $50,122

The January 2016 Salary Survey included 274 NACE employer members, who reported their projected salaries for their anticipated new hires from the class of 2016. It was conducted from Aug. 15 through Nov. 6, 2015.
