Majority of firms prioritize AI, but 51% don’t have right talent mix

While 93% of organizations in the US and UK consider artificial intelligence to be a business priority and have projects planned, 51% said they don’t have the right mix of skilled AI talent, according to research released by SnapLogic, a software firm based in San Mateo, California.

In the US, 41% of firms said they didn’t have the right talent, and 73% of UK firms said they did not have the right talent.

The priority AI skills sought include coding, programming and software development, according to 35% of firms. In addition, 33% of organizations prioritized data visualization and analytics.

Of the firms surveyed, 68% said they are investing in retaining and upskilling existing employees, 58% are recruiting talent from other organizations and 49% are recruiting from universities.

SnapLogic’s research included a survey of 300 IT decision-makers in the US and UK at organizations with more than 1,000 employees.
