List ranks largest IT staffing firms in US by revenue

July 18, 2016

Allegis’ TEKsystems division ranks as the largest supplier of IT temporary staffing in the US with a 12% market share, according to Staffing Industry Analysts’ 2016 list of largest IT staffing firms in the US released last week. On Assignment ranks No. 2 with a market share of 6% and Insight Global ranks No. 3 with a market share of 5%.

The annual list of largest IT staffing firms includes companies with revenue of at least $100 million in IT temporary staffing revenue in the previous year — the 2016 list is based on 2015 revenue. This year’s list includes 42 firms with combined revenue of almost $17.1 billion.

“At 42 firms, the IT skill segment boasts more companies that generated $100 million or more in US staffing revenue than any other skill segment, by our estimates,” Research Manager Timothy Landhuis said. “For comparison, the larger industrial segment has only 33 such firms. The substantial number of large IT staffing firms highlights the breadth and diversity of today’s IT staffing industry, with staffing companies finding success in a variety of occupational, industry vertical, and geographic niche strategies.”

The five largest IT staffing firms in the US and their estimated 2015 US IT temporary staffing revenue are:

  • TEKsystems (Allegis Group): $3.24 billion, 12% market share
  • On Assignment: $1.53 billion, 6% market share
  • Insight Global: $1.42 billion, 5% market share
  • Randstad Technologies: $1.12 billion, 4% market share
  • Kforce: $949 million, 3% market share

Two firms are included on this year’s ranking that did not appear in last year’s report: DIVERSANT and The Select Group.

Staffing Industry Analysts ranked companies by revenue, according to industry custom, but this ranking should not be taken to imply that a firm with a higher rank provides better service or more value to its shareholders.
