Lawmakers strike deal to double number of H-2B guest worker visas (The Washington Times)

November 29, 2018

The number of H-2B visas allowed for temporary nonagricultural workers would rise to 132,000 annually from 66,000 in a deal struck by a key group of lawmakers, The Washington Times reported. The tradeoff is that businesses hoping to use the H-2B visa program will have to submit to strict checks on their workforce, making sure those hired since 2012, and those they hire going forward, are in the country legally, according to a memorandum of understanding seen by the publication.
