Kforce Q4 revenue up 5%; temp revenue up as direct-hire revenue falls

Kforce Inc. (NASD: KFRC) reported fourth-quarter revenue rose 5.1%, exceeding the firm’s guidance with growth coming in the firm’s largest single segment, technology flex revenue and in government solutions flex revenue. Finance & Accounting flex revenue edge up. However, direct-hire revenue fell at the Tampa, Fla.-based professional staffing provider.

Net income fell to $6.1 million from $10.1 million in the year-ago quarter. The company reported the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act resulted in a re-measurement of its net deferred tax assets, which negatively impacted fourth-quarter net income by $5.4 million.

Kforce forecast first-quarter revenue of $343 million to $347 million. Gross margin is expected to be between 29.0% to 29.2%.
