A federal judge on Tuesday rejected a bid by Lyft Inc. (NASDAQ: LYFT) drivers in California to be immediately reclassified as employees instead of independent contractors amid the Covid-19 pandemic, Law 360 reported. The judge said the case was filed hurriedly to take advantage of the pandemic and was riddled with defects. And while the judge said California law means the drivers should be classified as employees, he rejected the emergency motion in the suit because of the legal defects in the filing.
