June 22, 2016

Jobs website The Muse closed a $16 million funding round, bringing total investment in the site to $28.7 million.

Based in New York, the company was founded in 2011. It reports more than 50 million users per year and recently expanded from offering jobs in more than 40 markets in the past 18 months from six markets. The company plans to further scale with the new funding round.

“The Muse helps millions of job candidates and ambitious professionals advance their careers, while partnering with over 500 client companies to rethink their talent acquisition strategies for finding and retaining top-performing employees,” said Kathryn Minshew, co-founder and CEO of The Muse.

Today’s announcement said the round was led by Palo Alto, Calif.-based Icon Ventures, and its General Partner Tom Mawhinney will join The Muse’s board. Current investors also took part in the round, including Aspect Ventures, DBL Partners and QED Investors.

“In addition to garnering the trust of a large community of users, The Muse is creating original, visual content that conveys a company’s story and culture to potential employees, a groundbreaking approach, and one that differentiates The Muse from any other recruitment or employer brand,” Mawhinney said.
