Human cloud firm Hyr raises $1.3 million for platform that offers gig workers benefits

January 18, 2018

Human cloud firm Hyr raised $1.3 million in seed funding round led by venture capital firm Flybridge Capital Partners, according to media reports.

Hyr seeks to match workers with shifts at hospitality companies. And the new funding round brings total funding to $2.4 million, Jesse Middleton, a general partner at Flybridge Capital Partners wrote in a post on Medium.

Middleton wrote that Hyr fills a need for just-in-time work and also offers benefits to its workers.

“This was unheard of in the gig economy but it was important to the team that people who choose to leverage Hyr to find work wouldn’t have to give up all of the benefits of being a full-time employee,” he wrote. “They created a form of benefits that are portable for a 1099 worker’s entire working life called UPoints.”

Hyr began in 2017 and has boarded more than 10,000 workers, and its clients include 200 businesses.
