Healthcare staffing provider Fortus names new CEO

February 29, 2016

Fortus Healthcare Resources, a healthcare recruitment agency based in Utica, NY, named Jeremy Enck as president and CEO, effective Friday.

Enck replaces founder Michael Maurizio, who has served as president and CEO of the company since 1993. Maurizio will remain chairman of the board and will work alongside Enck on special projects.

“Jeremy, in many ways, has established himself in these positions over the last 18 months,” said Maurizio. “The only difference is the title. I have had confidence in Jeremy for years and his business acumen far exceeds his age.”

Maurizio, who ranks on the Staffing 100 list of most influential people in the staffing industry, launched Fortus in 1993 as a specialty firm recruiting and placing nephrology professionals for the dialysis industry. However, Fortus now serves perioperative and ambulatory surgery centers and provides healthcare HR management, clinical practice and business development services.

Enck joined the company in 2007 as a project coordinator. As VP of sales since 2010, he has been responsible for the hiring and development of the sales staff and the growth of both the permanent and travel nursing divisions. Enck developed the travel placement division, also known as Fortus Group Travel, from three internal employees and six external contract workers to a division that does business with more than 100 different companies, has more than 100 internal and external employees, and is on track to triple in size this year.

Fortus ranks on Staffing Industry Analysts’ list of fastest-growing staffing firms in the US.  It counts approximately 40 internal employees.
