Healthcare Staffing Summit begins next week amid transformative time

October 31, 2018

The latest trends in healthcare staffing — from travel nursing to the human cloud — will be discussed next week at Staffing Industry Analysts’ annual Healthcare Staffing Summit in Denver. The theme is “Outperforming a Challenging Market,” and it takes place amid what some believe is a transformative time for the industry, which is estimated to grow revenue by 3% this year.

Director of research at Staffing Industry Analysts Tony Gregoire will deliver a keynote speech on the outlook for healthcare staffing..

The event will also feature a panel discussion by four executives of some of the largest healthcare staffing firms in the US, including:

  • Scott Beck, CEO of CHG Healthcare
  • Allison Beer, CEO of Fastaff
  • Alan Braynin, CEO of Aya Healthcare
  • Scot Thompson, president and CEO of C&A Industries Inc.

“Healthcare staffing has seen solid growth in recent years, with different drivers contributing to sector-wide successes and industry performance,” SIA President Barry Asin said. “This year’s Healthcare Staffing Summit brings together leaders and speakers from across the talent field to explore this dynamic marketplace and its exciting evolution. We look forward to welcoming attendees in Denver.”

“It’s a transformative time for healthcare staffing,” Braynin said in blog post on the Summit. “Hospitals are under continued financial pressure and staffing companies need to evolve to provide more cost-effective solutions by leveraging best-in-class business processes and technology.”

Braynin added the staffing strategies and tactics of yesterday won’t work tomorrow.

The CEO panel takes place at 4:40 p.m. Tuesday.

Other topics under discussion at the Healthcare Staffing Summit include trends in allied healthcare staffing, technology, growing revenue, the human cloud, and mergers and acquisitions.

“The merger and acquisition activity in the Healthcare Staffing industry is as hot as ever,” Janet Elkin, President and CEO of GHR Healthcare, said in a statement. “But having been through the M&A process, as both a seller and a buyer, the most important factor determining the new company’s future success isn’t the cash on hand or health of the balance sheet, it is how effectively leaders avoid common integration pitfalls and manage the impact of change on the organization.”

Elkin will be on a panel called “M&A, nonfinancial matters after the deal” at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Author and leadership expert Morten Hansen will discuss what it takes to perform better at work and present findings from a study of employees and managers in his keynote session. Hansen will also share insights from his book, Great at Work: How Top Performers Do Less, Work Smarter, and Achieve More, co-authored with Jim Collins, during a conference breakout session.

And in her keynote address, “Creating Community: The Key to Recruitment and Retention,” author and nurse leader Kathleen Bartholomew will discuss how to recruit and retain talent by building a community and share her passion for creating healthy work environments.

The event takes place Nov. 5-7 at The Hyatt Regency in Denver.
