Health Advocates Network acquires Staff Today, a healthcare staffing firm

April 19, 2021

Health Advocates Network Inc., a provider of nonclinical staffing to healthcare organizations, expanded its offerings with the acquisition of Staff Today Inc., a Los Angeles-based provider of clinical and nonclinical supplemental staffing services supporting governmental facilities.

The cash transaction marks the first acquisition by Health Advocates Network since its inception in 2020. The deal closed April 1; terms were not disclosed. The acquired business will continue to operate as a separate unit under the Staff Today brand, and all its executives will remain in their current roles and titles.

Health Advocates Network is headquartered in Boca Raton, Florida, and led by Chairman and CEO Kevin Little, who co-founded Medical Staffing Network in 1998 and served as CEO of Accountable Healthcare Staffing from the end of 2015 to the end of 2019. Another longtime executive involved in the venture is Eddie Albert, co-founder and director of mergers and acquisitions at Health Advocates Network. He also held that title at Accountable.

“The acquisition of a scale organization like Staff Today fits perfectly into our strategy of geographic expansion and market segment diversification,” said Albert. “Our acquisition pipeline is robust and we look forward to closing additional transactions this year.”

After an additional acquisition, set to close in less than three weeks, Health Advocates Network should be operating at an annual revenue run rate of $40 million with a goal to exit 2021 at about $50 million, Albert told SIA.

Health Advocates Network is interested in acquiring a travel nurse platform to supplement its organically grown travel nurse business as well as advanced-practice skill sets of CRNAs, nurse practitioners and physician’s assistants. It is also interested in scale operators that provide local healthcare staffing on a contract basis.
