Hawaii posts lowest jobless rate in April, three states hit record lows

Hawaii posted the lowest unemployment rate among all states in April at 2.0%, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics reported. New Hampshire and North Dakota followed, both at 2.6% on a seasonally adjusted basis.

Alaska recorded the highest jobless rate among all states at 7.3% in April.

California, Hawaii and Wisconsin hit their lowest rates since 1976, when the series began: 4.2%, 2.0% and 2.8%, respectively.

The national unemployment rate was 3.9%, 0.5 percentage point lower than in April 2017.
