“Many IT executives mistakenly think cost savings is the primary driver of using contingent workers,” The Wall Street Journal quoted Darrin Clawson, CEO of Kansas City tech firm Engage Mobile Solutions, as saying in a blog post about the IT skills gap and the gig economy. “But project preparation, detailed scope, design and documentation costs associated with contingent workers largely offset any potential savings. Hiring contingent workers is much more about having access to the best talent than trying to save a few bucks.”
