Google temps pose ‘significant risks,’ internal training document says (The Guardian)

December 12, 2018

The Guardian reports temporary staff at Google are seen as “significant risks,” according to a leaked internal training document that shows how Google employees are trained to treat temps, vendors and contractors, or TVCs. Google staff are instructed not to reward certain workers with perks like T-shirts, invite them to all-hands meetings, or allow them to engage in professional development training, according to an internal training document seen by The Guardian. “Working with TVCs and Googlers is different,” states the training documentation, titled “The ABCs of TVCs.” “Our policies exist because TVC working arrangements can carry significant risks.” Google contract workers on Dec. 5 demanded equal treatment and better compensation in a letter sent to CEO Sundar Pichai.
