Gi Group Holding acquires Latin American staffing, outplacement providers

May 10, 2022

Gi Group Holding, a global staffing provider based in Milan, Italy, has acquired two Latin American-based firms in Colombia and Brazil.

Gi Group announced Monday that it acquired Focun Group, a provider of staffing and business processes outsourcing based in Bogotá, Colombia. The move will increase Gi Group’s presence in the Colombian market by tenfold, according to the company. Monday’s announcement follows notice last week that GI Group acquired Stato Group, an outplacement, executive search and consulting firm based in São Paulo, Brazil, according to a story on Stato Group’s website.

“We are proud to welcome Focun Group to Gi Group Holding,” said Stefano Colli-Lanzi, CEO of Gi Group Holding. “This strategic move comes on the heels of our new Holding global corporate brand launch and highlights our commitment to being a global industry leader thanks to the contribution of key players who share our values, just like Focun Group in Colombia.”

Focun Group was founded in 1990 by Marlene Serrano and Isabel Arciniegas. It has a presence in nine cities across Colombia.

Focun Group’s two business units include “T&S Temserves,” which provides temporary staffing for more than 200 clients, and “ESI,” a business process outsourcing firm that employed some 1,000 people in 2021 and serves more than 200 clients.

ESI’s divisions include:

  • Impakte, provides trade marketing support.
  • Alkho, helps with managing industrial processes, such as outsourcing for projects focused on the management of industrial processes that include production, primary and secondary packaging process, industrial maintenance and internal supply logistics.
  • Facility Management Corp., a provider of facilities maintenance, cleaning, catering and other services.

Stato Group has been in operation for 32 years. The move aims to further boost Gi Group’s operations in Brazil. The acquisition follows Gi Group’s buy of Kelly Services Brazil, announced in August 2020.
